Who Are We? – Sail Aid was founded in 2017 by Sequoia Sun, former Captain for Greenpeace (2006), co-founder and Exec Director of OceansWatch North America (2008-2010), and captain for International Rescue Group (2014-2017). Captain Sequoia has been sailing all his life since growing up boating and racing on San Francisco Bay, all along the US Pacific Coast from San Diego to Vancouver, across the Pacific to Japan and Korea and back, US East Coast from Maine to Key West, extensively in the Caribbean, and eight times to Haiti since 2010. Now Captain on Tandemeer, a 1980 Nautical Development 56’ ketch, he sails to Haiti and the Caribbean from New England every Fall and Winter.
Who Else? If you are a sailor but don’t have a boat, or even a non-sailor but interested to learn and volunteer on one of our voyages, then contact us about crewing opportunities. More than 125 crew have sailed with Captain Sequoia on Tandemeer on voyages to Haiti and the Caribbean since 2014. You could be next. Who Me? Captains with boats: If you are a sailor with your own boat, you can join Sail Aid or just network together with us to be in touch, coordinate plans and deliveries to Haiti, Puerto Rico, or other islands and coastal areas you plan to sail. We can help arrange cargo and contacts for you. (other boat shots)
Guests: If you are not a sailor, or maybe you are a sailor but only have a week or two or three available, then join us as a guest and support our missions by renting a berth in a cabin or chartering the boat for a week or two in New England in Summer or the USVI in Winter (Guest Shots)
